The Retreat

This just occurred to me:

Joseph H. Lewis's 1952 war film Retreat, Hell! takes its title from a Marine slogan which means "we won't retreat." The poster, which prominently features an American soldier running away*, seems to have interpreted the title to be pro-retreat. Maybe like it means "retreat FROM hell." Odd.

* in fairness, he's running away as toughly as possible.
