The Friendly Recommendation

For any in the NY area, I can't recommend the Titanic at 100 exhibit at South Street Seaport enough. It's a small, tightly curated collection of diagrams, telegrams, postcards and other small artifacts from the ship and the other ships involved in the rescue.

For us film fans, there's a stunning section with original poster art for each of the Titanic films, including the 1912 short, and the ill-fated 1943 Joseph Goebbels-produced version.

The Tribute

"And the Road Warrior? That was the last we ever saw of him. He lives now, only in my memories."

The Road Warrior (1981)
dir. George Miller

"But now you know there was a man named Jack Dawson and that he saved me in every way that a person can be saved. He exists now, only in my memory."

Titanic (1997)
dir. James Cameron
